Servings 2 cups

Equipment

  • 1 Paper bag OR Stasher bag (sandwich or bigger) you can also cook popcorn in an air fryer, see notes for instructions.
  • Small Microwave Safe Bowl
  • Measuring Spoons

Ingredients

Popcorn

  • 2 Tablespoons popcorn kernels
  • cooking spray
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt

Chocolate Topping

  • 2 Tablespoons chocolate chips favorite or multiple kinds
  • ¼ teaspoon neutral oil canola, grapeseed, coconut, etc
  • kosher or popcorn salt to taste

Instructions

  • Add 2 Tablespoons of popcorn kernels to a sandwich Stasher bag (or larger). Seal bag, leaving about 1 inch open to release steam. You can also use a brown paper bag. Roll it up and place in microwave, rolled side down.
  • Microwave for 2-3 minutes, or until popcorn stops popping for 15-ish seconds.
  • Remove from microwave, and seal. Set aside.
  • Add 2 Tablespoons of chocolate chips and ¼ teaspoon oil to a small microwave safe bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds at a time, stir between, until melted.
  • While chocolate is in microwave, lightly spray popcorn with cooking spray, and add ½ teaspoon salt. Shake bag vigorously. Taste. Add more spray/salt if desired. Barely under-salt your popcorn as you will add more salt to finish it.
  • Once chocolate is melted and smooth, shake about ⅓ of the popcorn into a serving bowl. Then drizzle about ⅓ of chocolate over it. Repeat until all popcorn and chocolate is used.
  • Add additional salt, if desired.
  • You can refrigerate popcorn to cool the chocolate, or enjoy it immediately. Either works.

Notes

  • You can also make your popcorn in an Air Fryer. Use this Air Fryer Popcorn recipe.
  • You can also melt 1 Tablespoon each white and dark or milk chocolate chips, with ⅛ teaspoon oil in each. Or mix them. Use what you like.
  • If making a larger amount, you can spread the popcorn out on a baking sheet, then drizzle chocolate over it. This will help distribute the chocolate evenly on the popcorn.
  • Additional Toppings: crushed cookies, chopped nuts, white chocolate, mini chocolate chips, sprinkles, melted butterscotch chips, caramel sauce, etc.
