    Insurance Coverage

Nourish Nutrition is currently in network with

    • Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS)/Regence
    • United Healthcare (UHC)
    • Select Health (coming May 2024)

Insurance coverage needs to be determined prior to your first appointment, and let us know if your insurance coverage changes during our time together.

Each insurance provider and policy has different nutrition service coverage, so it's up to clients to keep track of coverage. Payment is due at time of service or denial of insurance coverage.

Call your insurance provider and ask the following questions to see what will be covered. You can refer to the back of your insurance card for the number to call.

Here are a few questions to ask your insurance provider.

    1. Is Hannah Rebecca Clyde, RD (NPI 1932792819) considered an in network provider?

    2. Do I Have coverage for nutrition consultations with CPT codes 97802 and 97803? (if you're participating in a group program (97804)

    3. Is the ICD-10 code Z71.3 covered?

    4. If not, ask about any of the following diagnosis codes (only the ones that are applicable to you and your health history).

    F50.01 Anorexia, restricting type

    F50.2 Bulimia

    F50.9 OSFED (atypical eating disorder)

    F50.81 Binge eating disorder

Z82.49 Family history of heart disease

    Z83.3 Family history of diabetes

Z68 BMI code (see note below)

    5. How many sessions are covered per year?

    6. Do I have a co-pay for nutrition services?

    7. Will these sessions apply to my deductible?

    8. Request a reference number for the call and write down the name of the representative you spoke with.

    BMI

BMI is used everywhere in healthcare, while it doesn't do as much as previously thought to predict health outcomes. I think it's complete BS, and has lead to unhelpful and even unhealthy behaviors to control weight, which doesn't work long term.

Not only does it not work for most people, focus on weight can increase weight stigma which may instead account for many of the outcomes/conditions that have been traditionally 'caused' by weight.

Maintenance Phase, a smart, informative, and actually fun podcast has an episode on BMI. I recommend listening to it for context and more information.

Even though I would consider myself a dietitian who practices through the lens of Health at Every Size, because of the reasons mentioned above, I still have to use BMI in some ways.

Some insurances will cover nutrition counseling for clients based on BMI, again, even though it's totally BS, let's use all tools we can to get you the support and coverage available to you. We can talk more about this in session.
