Make a big batch of this gingerbread spice mix & include a few recipes using it & send to friends/family for the holidays. It's special, delicious, and inexpensive treat for the holidays.

Or you could make a gingerbread poundcake made with this spice mix or these chocolate dipped oreos or 3 ingredient homemade hot cocoa are all tasty treats that anyone would be psyched to get delivered to them.

Plus, what's better is that they're all easy for you to make.

    Ingredients

Scroll down to the homemade gingerbread spice mix recipe card for the amounts of each ingredient, but here's a quick list of what's in this recipe.

    • Ground ginger
    • Ground cinnamon
    • Ground nutmeg
    • Ground cloves
    • Ground allspice

    Instructions

Scroll down to the recipe card for more detailed instructions. Here's a quick overview + photos to see how to make this recipe in general.

Using a teaspoon and tablespoon, pour 2 Tablespoons ground ginger, 2 Tablespoons ground cinnamon, 1 Tablespoon ground nutmeg, 1 teaspoon ground cloves, and one teaspoon ground allspice into a small glass jar.

Tie ribbon around jar and add a small card if giving it as a gift.

Expert Tip: Get new spices from the bulk section of your grocery store so they're fresh and fragrant. The bulk section is also less expensive than buying whole bottles of spices.

Expert Tip: If making for multiple holiday gifts, roll curser over the number of servings in the recipe card to choose the number of servings you plan on making.

Mix spices in a bowl and divide into individual gift jars or small spice containers.

    Substitutions/Tips

    • Get new spices from the bulk section of your grocery store so they're fresh and fragrant. The bulk section is also less expensive than buying whole bottles of spices.
    • If making for multiple holiday gifts, roll curser over the number of servings in the recipe card to choose the number of servings you plan on making. Mix spices in a bowl and divide into individual gift jars or small spice containers.

    FAQ

What is gingerbread spice made of?

    Ground ginger
    Ground cinnamon
    Ground nutmeg
    Ground cloves
    Ground allspice
    Occasionally coriander and cardamom

    What flavor is gingerbread?

I'd describe gingerbread as spiced ginger. Gingerbread can sometimes taste spicy because of the ginger; but the warm spices of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and allspice add holiday flavors to it.

What do you add gingerbread spice to?

The classic use for gingerbread spice is gingerbread or gingerbread cookies. But you can add it to a Holiday Gingerbread Cake, pancakes, a latte, and many other tasty foods.

What else can I add gingerbread spice to?

    • Add it to pancake/waffle batter
    • Use it to make this Gingerbread Pound Cake
    • Add to yogurt in the morning (+ some sugar)
    • Add it to this peanut butter granola.

Love the balance between the spices for a perfect gingerbread cookie or muffin. I tried it and loved it nothing like a fresh spice mix.
