How will these Christmas oreos make your life better?

The holidays can get expensive, with parties, clothes, travel, and all the gifts we get for our loved ones... it adds up quickly. Instead of spending a lot of money buying things for your friends and family, consider making them a yummy treat.

These chocolate dipped oreos, homemade gingerbread spice mix, gingerbread poundcake, or 3 ingredient homemade hot cocoa are all tasty treats that anyone would be psyched to get delivered to them.

Plus, what's better is that they're all easy for you to make. Or make these small batch double chocolate cookies, they're the best cookies ever.

What makes these Christmas cookies so good?

    • Oreos
    • Chocolate chips
    • Peppermint candy

How do I make chocolate covered oreos?

Melt the chocolate: Pour chocolate chips into microwave safe bowl, microwave for about 2 minutes, taking bowl out every 45 seconds to stir, until chocolate is melted. Set aside.

Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper or reusable baking mats and pour crushed peppermint candy into shallow bowl. Dip each Oreo cookie halfway into chocolate, then place on baking pan.

Once all cookies are on the baking sheets, sprinkle peppermint candies liberally over cookies.

Refrigerate until chocolate hardens, at least 15 minutes. Once hardened, you can distribute your chocolate dipped oreos between plastic bags or jars as gifts. Or refrigerate until you eat them.

    Substitutions/Tips

    • Use your favorite kind of chocolate chips for these chocolate dipped oreos. I prefer semi-sweet chocolate chips. You can also use regular or double stuf oreos.
    • Buy crushed peppermint candy OR place peppermint candies or candy canes in a freezer plastic bag and roll rolling pin over them to smash candies.
    • Other great add-ins: sprinkles, nuts.

    FAQ

How long do oreos dipped in chocolate last?

Usually food lasts about a week. These chocolate covered oreos will stay fresher longer if refrigerated in an airtight container.

How do you dip the perfect oreo?

Here's how to make chocolate dipped oreos: melt chocolate chips, it should be smooth and drippy. Dip oreo into it, then remove drip with a spatula, or scrape on side of bowl. Transfer to baking sheet with baking mat or parchment. Refrigerate.

What's the best chocolate to use for chocolate dipped oreos?

Choose a higher quality chocolate, like Ghirardelli or Guittard, the chocolate dip will be silky, tasty, and gorgeous.

What can I make with leftover ingredients?

    • Oreos: eat them, or use in this No Churn Blueberry Oreo Ice Cream
    • Chocolate Chips: Make Quinoa Candy Bark (with Halloween candy or not), Chocolate Chip Cookie, or Chocolate Covered Strawberries.
    • Crushed Peppermint Candy: top hot chocolate with it! Or try these other hot chocolate toppings
