This blueberry oreo ice cream recipe is the perfect way to cool down this summer. It's an easy no-churn recipe that you can actually scoop right out of the freezer. It's creamy, smooth, and bursting with flavor

How will this recipe make your life easier?

If you're like me, and love homemade ice cream, but don't want to buy one more kitchen tool that does one thing, this ice cream recipe is for you.

All you need is a high powered blender (or hand mixer), loaf pan, and freezer to make this super creamy, custardy ice cream that you can actually scoop right out of the freezer.

It's so good and just as easy, you just need at least 3 hours to let it freeze enough to eat.

Not in the mood for ice cream? These Red, White & Blue Popsicles are delicious and even easier. Or you can make this Skillet Peach Crisp if you don't want to wait for a frozen treat.

    What makes it so good?

ingredients for blueberry oreo ice cream on a table
    • Heavy Cream
    • Sweetened Condensed Milk
    • Vanilla extract
    • Salt
    • Oreo cookies
    • Frozen blueberries

How do I make this blueberry oreo ice cream recipe?

spatula with whipped cream on it over a blender full of whipped cream

Pour 1 pint (2 cups) of heavy cream into a high powered blender. Place lid on blender. Select Milkshake/Ice Cream button.

Check cream by sticking a rubber spatula in the blender. If cream is not thick and sticks to spatula without spilling off, it needs to be blended for longer.

Pulse for 10-20 seconds, or until you can scoop out cream without it spilling off the spatula. It will be like firm peaks.

Expert Tip: Use Heavy Whipping Cream as a substitute for heavy cream.

Expert Tip: Use a hand mixer if you don't have a high powered blender. Mix cream for about 5 minutes, or until you get stiff peaks.

sweetened condensed milk and vanilla in a loaf pan with spatula in it

Pour one 14 oz can of sweetened condensed milk, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and ½ teaspoon salt into loaf pan. Mix together with a whisk.

    ice cream in loaf pan

Once combined, add whipped cream to milk mixture, about 1 cup at a time. Whisk together until smooth.

Freeze for 2 hours. While ice cream base is freezing, crush 8 Oreo cookies by pulsing them in the blender (or food processor) for 5-10 seconds.

OR place them in a plastic bag and roll a rolling pin over them to crush them to your desired cookie size.

blueberries and oreos on top of ice cream in a loaf pan

After 2 hours, remove ice cream from freezer, add cookies and 1 c frozen blueberries to ice cream. Using the rubber spatula, mix together until mostly combined. Return to freezer and freeze for at least 3 more hours.

    Expert Tips

    • Use Heavy Whipping Cream as a substitute for heavy cream.
    • Use a hand mixer if you don't have a high powered blender. Mix cream for about 5 minutes, or until you get stiff peaks.

    FAQ

How do you make Oreo ice cream from scratch?

It's easier than you'd think. Whip up some whipped cream, fold that into sweetened condensed milk, a dash of vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.

Freeze for about 2 hours. Add crushed oreos and other toppings, and freeze for another 3+ hours before eating.

Can I use milk instead of heavy cream?

Heavy cream and heavy whipping cream are best for this recipe because they have enough fat to make whipped cream out of. According to the internet, you can add butter to milk, you can use tofu, or you can add cornstarch to milk.

I haven't tried any of these, and question how tofu or cornstarch will taste in the recipe, but those are options for the right texture to make this oreo ice cream.

Is heavy cream the same as heavy whipping cream for ice cream?

Pretty much. You can use either to make whipped cream for the ice cream. The heavy cream has a higher fat content, which whips up better, but either works.

Just don't make the same mistake I've made by using half & half or milk. Those won't work without adding more fat to it. And that's too much effort.

What can I make with leftover ingredients?

This recipe is great because you use a whole carton (a pint) of heavy cream and a whole jar of sweetened condensed milk. The only ingredients you're left with are:

    • (blueberries) Chocolate Blueberry Muffins, Blueberry Tea Smoothie or Grilled Turkey & Brie Sandwich with Blueberry Mustard
    • (oreo cookies) Chocolate Covered Oreos.
