Pizzas are a great dinner to make to use up leftover ingredients in the fridge. Plus it's pizza! Enjoy delicious, fresh fall figs on this easy prosciutto and fig pizza. It make a great dinner for one that feels special, with limited effort.

Start your prosciutto and fig pizza with homemade Single Serving Pizza Dough, store bought, OR naan bread, then it'll just take 15-20 minutes. This prosciutto and fig pizza is a quick and easy pizza dinner, which is always a good idea.

Enjoy this pizza on it's own, shared as an appetizer, or add a side to it. Side options are listed below the recipe instructions.

    Ingredients

Scroll down to the prosciutto and fig pizza recipe card for the amounts of each ingredient, but here's a quick visual + description of what's in this recipe.

ingredients for fig and prosciutto pizza on a table
    • Pizza Dough/Flatbread: Use what you have. With at least 40 minutes (mostly rest time), you can make your own Single Serving Pizza Dough.
    • Fresh Figs: While figs are very delicious on this pizza, you can also use apple slices or pear slices if it's not fig season, or you just don't want them
    • Prosciutto
    • Goat Cheese: You can substitute it for traditional mozzarella cheese, but the creamy goat cheese is so good with figs.
    • Green Bell Pepper: Use any kind of bell pepper, but I like this least sweet bell pepper to go with the figs and slightly sweet goat cheese.
    • Optional 'Sauces': maple syrup, balsamic glaze, and honey all make for great drizzles after the pizza is done baking. Since this pizza doesn't have sauce, I recommend one of these to finish the pizza.

    Instructions

Scroll down to the recipe card for more detailed instructions. Here's a quick overview + photos to see how to make this recipe in general.

pizza crust with olive oil on top of a baking sheet

    1. Start making your prosciutto and fig pizza by turning the oven onto broil. Drizzle olive oil over crust. Spread it out over whole crust with the back of a spoon.

    2. Crumble, and then evenly distribute goat cheese over crust. Then top with figs, prosciutto, and chopped green bell peppers.

    3. Broil in oven until prosciutto and crust are golden brown, or in 450 degree oven. About 5-8 minutes.

    4. Cut your prosciutto and fig pizza, drizzle maple syrup or balsamic glaze over pizza, sprinkle with kosher salt, and enjoy.

    Serve with

    • Zucchini with Feta
    • Copycat Chick Fil A Kale Salad
    • Apple Cucumber Salad
    • Carrot Cucumber Salad
    • Cucumber Beet Salad

    Storage/Reheating Tips

Store leftover prosciutto and fig pizza in an airtight container, in the fridge, for about a week. Reheat in the microwave or broiler.

I wouldn't recommend freezing this pizza as the figs would get really mushy.

    Substitutions/Tips

    • Use pita, naan, or precooked pizza crust to save time. You can also buy pizza dough or make your own. Here's my favorite homemade pizza dough recipe.
    • Distribute cheese first, the order of remaining ingredients doesn't matter as much.
    • Use either black or green figs, depending on availability and price. You can substitute fresh figs for fig jam too.
    • Use any color bell pepper for this recipe.
    • If you have a grill, grill your pizza directly on the grill grates. It's as close to pizza oven pizza without a pizza oven! You can also use a pizza stone for a crispy crust.
    • Other great add-ins: fresh mozzarella, black pepper or red pepper flakes, other seasonal toppings like zucchini, corn, fresh arugula, etc are good on a prosciutto and fig pizza.

    FAQ

What kind of cheese goes on fig and prosciutto pizza?

I recommend using goat cheese on this prosciutto and fig pizza recipe. You can also use mozzarella cheese on it.

    Is prosciutto good on pizza?

Prosciutto is great on pizza, it gives you a nice crunch and salty flavor. It's quicker than using bacon, it doesn't need to be precooked to add to pizza. Look at the other pizza recipes in the top section, a few have prosciutto.

    When are figs in season?

Figs have a short season, generally from August-October in the United States. They're hard to find out of season. So buy them when you see them!

    • Peach & prosciutto caprese pizza
    • Chicken Bacon Ranch Flatbread
    • Pear & prosciutto pizza

    • Goat cheese: Beet Salad with Goat Cheese & Arugula or pair them with freshly steamed beets
    • Pizza dough: Pear, Prosciutto Arugula Pizza, Buffalo Chicken Flatbread.
    • Prosciutto: Peach Caprese Pizza with Prosciutto
    • Figs: Roast them with honey to add to ice cream, yogurt, or just eat plain

Many years I dreamt about tasting one unusual Italian combination - prosciutto con melone, and this year my dream came true in Rome. I've already tried peach & prosciutto caprese pizza and pear & prosciutto pizza, I love them so much! The combination of ingredients give this unique taste and smells stunning! I appreciate that these recipes are so easy and fast to cook, even a child can deal with it. I don't like when there are too much ingredients, then you can't feel any elusive notes of taste, the dish turns out to be "the borshch" (as far as I know, it's a Slavic cuisine dish, a red soup with a lot of vegetables)/ Your recipes and creative, exclusive and very tasty, thank you so much!
