Ok before you read farther, this is not a one serving recipe.
This red white and blue popsicles recipe makes 10 popsicles, as my mold makes 10. So this is a great recipe to make if-
- you're in the mood to whip something together for a summer party or
- if you'd like to cool down with a popsicle night after night.
Quickly make these, a few hours ahead to take to a summer BBQ, Memorial Day, or 4th of July party. Or make them ahead of time for quick, cold, yogurt snacks at home.
I like this recipe because, unlike many others I see online, you can do all the assembly at once. No need to add one layer and freeze between layers. Sure the layers aren't as defined, but I'm all about easier prep.
Plus these still look really nice.
This red white and blue popsicles recipe is also a bit more satisfying than juice based recipes. Those are great, but if you lose your appetite while in the sun, extra energy, carbs, and protein in these popsicles are definitely welcome.

- Strawberries: Either fresh or frozen strawberries will work. You can use any red berry, like raspberries or cherries.
- Blueberries: Use fresh or frozen blueberries or blackberries for the blue-ish color in these red white and blue popsicles.
- Lemon Juice: I like adding some lemon juice to enhance the fruit flavor. You can add some sugar and/or salt to add sweetness and enhance the flavor a bit more. I used some frozen lemon juice. Either fresh or frozen works here.
- Vanilla Yogurt: Use any white-ish yogurt. If using plain yogurt, you might want to add some sweetener to it first. You could also use coconut milk, but the ingredients will blend together more since milk is thinner than yogurt.

1.Hull strawberries (remove stem/leaves) if using fresh. See video above for instructions.
2. Blend strawberries and lemon juice together. Blend to desired texture.
3. Blend blueberries with lemon juice. Blend to desired texture.
4. Layer in the strawberries, yogurt, and blueberries. Wipe off excess ingredients. Slide popsicle sticks into each mold. Stir with stick for a marbled effect. Add lid. Freeze your red white and blue popsicles for 5+ hours.
7. Run warm water over mold to loosen red white and blue popsicles. Enjoy immediately.
Enjoy your red white and blue popsicles immediately, or pop them back into the freezer.
To store, I recommend transferring popsicles to a freezer bag. They will prevent frost bite better than keeping them in the mold. Plus they take up less space in a bag.
- Adjust lemon juice to your preference in these homemade red white and blue popsicles. Add a bit at a time after you've blended the berries, stir and continue to taste until you like the flavor.
- Also if you have berries that don't have much flavor, I'd recommend adding a pinch or so of sugar and/or salt to bring out the natural berry flavor. Again add that after blending up the berries.
- You can add red food color or blue food color to the berries, if you'd like. But the natural colors are easier and nice.
- As you can tell in the photo above, I'm using frozen lemon juice here. I juice lemons that are almost too ripe, pour the juice into a bag and freeze it for times I don't have fresh lemons. This saves money, extra trips to the store.
- Use whatever white-ish yogurt you have. If using plain, you might want to add sweetener to it before adding to these red white and blue popsicles.
- Other red ingredients: raspberries, red cherries
- Other blue ingredients: blackberries, or if you're fancy/extra lucky-huckleberries. But I might just save huckleberries for a huckleberry shake or pancakes.
- Other great add-ins: juice, whole berries, other flavored yogurt, etc.
You can use cups instead. Or even make tiny popsicles like these homemade red white and blue popsicles with an ice tray.
Ohhh, if you're traveling for more than 20 or so minutes, I'd recommend placing the ice pops in a freezer bag in a cooler with some ice in it. If you're less than 20 minutes away, pop them in the freezer until serving.

Homemade Red White and Blue Popsicles
- popsicle mold
- popsicle sticks
- 1 cup vanilla yogurt
- 1 cup hulled strawberries
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice divided
- 1 cup blueberries
- Set 1 cup vanilla yogurt aside. Add 1 cup hulled strawberries to high powered blender. Blend until smooth. Add lemon juice to taste (I added 1 teaspoon). Pour into bowl, set aside. Rinse blender out.
- Add 1 cup blueberries to blender, blend until smooth. Add lemon juice to taste (I added about 1 tsp). Pour into bowl and set aside.
- Layer in blueberry puree, then yogurt, then strawberry puree into each mold. Fill until almost the top.
- Place popsicle sticks in each mold and swirl ingredients to get some marbling if desired.
- Place mold in the freezer for at least 5 hours.
- Remove mold from freezer immediately before serving. Run mold under warm water to release popsicles. Enjoy immediately.
- If you're traveling for more than 20 or so minutes, I'd recommend placing the ice pops in their mold in a cooler with some ice in it. If it's less than 20 minutes, & you have access to a freezer they'll refreeze pretty quickly to be ready to eat after dinner.
