How will this breakfast make your life easier?

Overnight oats are one of the best quick breakfast options. They just take a few minutes to prep either the night before or early in the week, and you're left with easy to eat, tasty oatmeal for breakfast.

These apple pie overnight oats can be eaten hot or cold, out of a jar, in a bowl, on your way to work, at your desk.... really they are so versatile. They're definitely a busy morning life saver.

The best part about overnight oats is the fact that you can make lots of different flavor combinations, just like apple pie overnight oats. All of them are really easy.

Just follow the basic steps, outlined in Overnight Oats with Yogurt.

Here are a few of my favorite overnight oats and other really quick recipes: Apple Cinnamon Overnight Oats, Peanut Butter Banana Overnight Oats, Microwave Egg Bowl, and Strawberry Banana Smoothie.

What makes these apple overnight oats so good?

How do I make these overnight oats?

chopped apples on green cutting board

To start making your apple pie overnight oats, chop an apple.

chopped apples and cinnamon in glass bowl

Add apple, maple b, cinnamon, and salt to a medium microwave safe bowl. Mix and microwave the cinnamon apples for 60 seconds.

cooked apples over yogurt and oats in a jar

Layer oats, yogurt, ground flax, milk, and cooked apples into an airtight container, like a mason jar or plastic bowl. Refrigerate for 4+ hours, the apple pie overnight oats can be stored in the fridge for up to 5 days.

    Substitutions/Tips

    • Old fashioned oats or rolled oats are best for overnight oats, quick cook oats and steel cut oats don't work as well.
    • Tart apples are great in this apple pie overnight oats recipe, pink lady, granny smith, braeburn or other tart apples would work.
    • Adjust the amount of cinnamon, maple syrup, and salt to your preference.
    • Add a pinch of cinnamon to your overnight oats for more flavor.
    • Optional add-ins: additional ground cinnamon, nutmeg, dried fruit, chopped nuts, chia seeds.

    FAQ

How to make apple pie overnight oats?

These oats are easy to make, just cook apples with cinnamon, maple syrup, and salt in the microwave. Then add your apples, yogurt, oats, and milk to an airtight container and refrigerate for at least 8 hours.

What is the right time to eat oats?

You can eat oats any time of the day, but they're mostly eaten in the morning for breakfast in the United States. They're great as a snack too.

    How can I repurpose?

You can cook the oats from your apple pie overnight oats instead of letting them sit in the fridge overnight and add the apple topping. You can also add the apple topping to yogurt with granola or plain yogurt.

What can I make with leftover ingredients?

    • Apple: Apple Omelet with Sharp Cheddar Cheese, Holiday Kale Slaw with Apples, and Pan Fried Pork Chop with Apples.
    • Oats: Baked Oatmeal Cups, Protein Granola, Oatmeal Cherry Bars, Peanut Butter Granola.
    • Yogurt: Blueberry Tea Smoothie, Broccoli Salad with Greek Yogurt, PB Greek Yogurt Dip, Easy Chicken Salad Pita.
